During October, students decided to make a donation to Texas Children’s Hospital. They collected puzzles, board games, coloring books, colors, markers, playing cards and activity books. Project organizers encouraged students to donate items that would brighten young patients’ days.

On Dec. 3, the students boxed up more than 300 items and delivered them to the hospital.

The Kujawa students received a surprise of their own. While at the hospital, they got to meet Santa Claus who was delivering presents to children at the hospital. The Houston Rockets’ mascot Clutch was also on hand spreading some holiday cheer.

Carla Smith organized the campus’ Make a Difference Day project. Smith serves as the school’s counselor.

“It was awesome to see students making a positive difference in the community,” said Smith.

The students enjoyed the project.

One student said, “This made my heart happy. And I learned that it is better to give than to receive.”

“Right on the mark,” said Smith. “The students learned that doing nice things for other people is a very good thing indeed!”
